Welcome to Fall 2018 Volleyball!! Our program is proud to announce that we are the fastest growing sport in the recreational program over the past four years. Thank you to all of the players, parents and especially our volunteer coaches for making our program so fantastic!
REGISTRATION FOR THE FALL 2018 SEASON IS NOW
!!! DO NOT WAIT to register your child to play as the teams fill VERY QUICKLY !!!
REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE ON August 25, 2018 at midnight. Please make sure you register within this time frame!!!! An enormous turn out is expected this fall, so please make sure you register EARLY.
The Meet and Greet for all coaches, players and parents will be held on September 4th (location TBD)!! I am inviting the Arundel High School coaching staff to attend with us to speak to your players!! If you are unable to attend the Meet and Greet, you are responsible for providing your child’s jersey size, requested jersey # (between 1-99), and requested jersey name (one name only, can be First, Last or nick name). This information must be provided to your assigned coach.
AGE GROUPS AVAILABLE:
The age cut off date is set by the County at September 1st. For example, to play 10U your player must be no older than 10 by September 1st of this year; If your player turns 11 on August 31st they will play 12U.
WE NEED COACHES! Please indicate on your registration if you are willing head or assistant coach a team and the age group you prefer. We will be holding a coach-the-coaches session to help give you pointers on how to teach basic skills and run simple drills.
If you are new to coaching, there is a clinic that is required for all new coaches that will be held by the County on August 21, 2018 at Old Mill High School from 6:00 – 8:00PM. If you have ANY interest, please plan to attend. Further information can be found here: https://www.aacounty.org/services-and-programs/coaches-certification-clinic
They usually hold another session in late November as well, so if you can’t make this one they will hold another. This class is required by the County to coach any youth sport.
You will also be required to submit a background check. The link can be found under the team registration tab here: https://www.aacounty.org/departments/recreation-parks/sports/volleyball-youth/index.html
Players are assigned to a team/coach based upon age group, requested practices days and availability. Your coach will be your primary source of communication throughout the season.
Practices are scheduled to begin on September 5th!
Game schedules will be determined once teams have been formed. I will send a link to all registrant parents once it is available. Games are scheduled by the County and will likely begin on September 16th (pending confirmation from the County). Dates and locations will be communicated once schedules are completed. We will be playing against teams from Annapolis, Bowie, Odenton and Severna Park!
IF you have two children playing on two different age levels - it is quite likely that their game schedules WILL cross - either by time, location, or both. This CAN NOT be avoided, please plan accordingly.
CAC Volleyball is dedicated to teaching volleyball to both boys and girls, ages 8 to 14, in Crofton, MD. Crofton Volleyball begins by focusing on basic skills including bumping, passing, and underhand serving. Once players have successfully demonstrated basic skills, we move on to more advanced skills including setting, hitting, tipping, blocking, and overhand serving. The ultimate goal is to be ready for high school level play when entering 9th grade.
The fall league is administrated over by the Anne Arundel County Parks & Recreation department. All game schedules, rules and requirements are set by the County and published on their website here: https://www.aacounty.org/departments/recreation-parks/sports/volleyball-youth/index.html
There are three (3) age-based groups including 14U, 12U, and 10U. The player's age as of September 1st of the current year determines the age-group he or she is permitted to play. Requests for playing up to an older age group are considered on a case-by-case basis and are NOT guaranteed. In no case is a child permitted to play down to a younger age group.
Uniforms and Meet & Greet
Uniform shirts are provided as part of the registration fee for all players. Fittings are scheduled during the Meet & Greet session held for all parents, players and coaches. The Meet & Greet will be held during the evening of the first day of school, or September 4th. This event allows the parents and players to meet their coaches, learn the rules of the program and complete any paperwork required by the County. During the fitting the players can choose their jersey number and what name they would like included on their jersey (numbers are first come/first serve, names are first names or nick names preferred by the player).
We will attempt to inform, advise, sometimes entertain, and provide you with links to items of interest on the web, and perhaps find you discounts on products, etc. In general, we will attempt to share information important to you. The Crofton Athletic Council considers our relationship with the parent members of the council the most important link to providing the best possible youth sports experience for our children. We have created the Parents Corner on our website and sincerely hope that it becomes a very important stop for you on our web site (www.croftonsports.com).
We need volunteers!!! We need volunteers to help with the following:
- Coaching the teams
- End of season party!
Please contact our Commissioner, Jodi Reedy, at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have interest in coaching or any of the other items listed. We thank you for your continued amazing support of our volleyball program!!
